It’s Not Too Late to Get the Flu Vaccine

Flu season has arrived. As we head into the holiday season, keep yourself and your family safe by getting your flu shot today.

Montgomery County is offering flu shots at walk-up locations across the county at no cost to those age 6 months and older who live, work, or go to school in the County. Appointments are required, and can be made at https://www.montcopa.org/3063/Flu.

In addition, many pharmacies offer flu shots free of charge with insurance and healthcare providers across the area are offering flu shot clinics and appointments for patients.  Call your pharmacy or healthcare provider for more information.

Influenza is a serious illness, and flu shots are safe and effective.  While some typically experience mild reactions such as soreness, the vaccine cannot cause you to get the flu.  Another potential benefit: new research suggests that influenza vaccines may help limit illness from the coronavirus.

With coronavirus hospitalizations on the rise throughout Pennsylvania, choosing to get a flu shot now will help hospitals from becoming overwhelmed as winter sets in.  Just like wearing a mask and practicing social distancing, getting a flu shot this year will help keep those around you safe and help our community get through the COVID-19 pandemic together.
