Shed Pounds to Beat COVID-19

New research suggests that obesity plays a major role in who contracts COVID-19 and the likelihood that the illness will cause severe symptoms or require hospitalization.  The Centers for Disease Control revised COVID-19 risk categories in June, placing obesity in the same risk category as those with compromised immune systems and type 2 diabetes. With approximately 40% of the U.S. population struggling with obesity, there’s never been a better time to get healthier.  

It has become harder for many to maintain a healthy weight as our patterns of life have changed in recent months. Focusing on the basics, including eating whole unprocessed foods and getting regular exercise are still vital.  This article on the “quarantine 15” explores some techniques for losing weight in our post-COVID world.
