It’s National Walking Day, and a perfect time to re-acclimate yourself with the outdoors (especially after huddling indoors all winter).
Here are some great places to get walking today (and the rest of the season):
Ellis Woods Park
Young hikers will love getting into the walking habit as you navigate this nature trail—a flat, gravel loop with a play area nearby in case of child boredom. Ellis Woods Park is also great for seniors and pets.
Swamp Creek Park / The Airplane Park
Want to take that perfect exercise selfie? Swamp Creek Park has beautiful birch trees along its one-mile path that create the perfect background. Stick around and watch a model airplane exhibition or try out the park’s exercise equipment. Its length and ease make it another great trail for families.
Schuylkill River Trail
Pottstown has plenty of access to this massive trail system that runs from Schuylkill County to Philadelphia. You’ll pass railroads, quarries, canals, and more. There are access points at Continental Concrete, Morlatton Village, Riverfront Park and the Schuylkill River Heritage Area.
Valley Forge National Historical Park
If you’re looking for a longer excursion, Valley Forge National Historical Park boasts more than 20 miles of interconnected trails. As a bonus, you’ll enjoy the historical significance of this Revolutionary War encampment.
