Pottstown Community Survey Relies on Resident Voices
The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation is funding a community health needs assessment underway now through May to better understand the health and well-being of Pottstown residents. Thousands of households in the Borough of Pottstown will receive a letter in the mail inviting them to complete the electronic survey, with an option to take the survey over the phone or in person.
By participating in this survey, residents will have the opportunity to share input about health and wellness needs, barriers to education and employment, and perceptions about the community. All respondents will receive a $10 gift card as a thank you for completing the survey.
“This survey will focus on neighborhoods where we think we can have the greatest impact, and we’re looking forward to leveraging the data to better serve our community,” said PAHWF program officer Craig Colistra who is leading the effort to collect and analyze the data.
Responses will remain confidential and will be combined with thousands of other responses so that no one can be identified. Results will be shared, along with other community surveys and reports, at https://www.pottstownfoundation.org/about-the-foundation/studies-reports. Any questions about this project can be emailed to PottstownCommunitySurvey@phmc.org.
The Foundation has been regularly funding needs assessments since 2004 to support strategic investments in the Pottstown area. The assessments serve as a tool for organizations to advocate for resources to address community health needs and enhance the quality of life for all residents.
“Key area institutions, including Community Health & Dental Care and Pottstown Early Action for Kindergarten Readiness, have their roots in prior needs assessments,” said Foundation president David Kraybill. “Understanding how our community’s needs develop over time is vital for our efforts alongside community partners and within TriCounty Health Council to make positive change.”
The mission of PAHWF is to enhance the health and wellness of area residents, and provide education, funding, and programs to support equitable access and inclusive opportunities for all residents to adopt healthy lifestyles. PAHWF will be partnering with Public Health Management Corporation (PHMC) to administer the survey. PHMC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in Philadelphia and works in partnership with communities, government, businesses, the health care sector, and other nonprofit agencies to address pressing public health challenges throughout the U.S.
