Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation Announces Changes

Pottstown, PA – September 29, 2014– The Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation announces changes in Board leadership. As of July 1, 2014, six of the Foundation’s Board members have retired. Over the past 11 years, the following members have held either the title of President, Vice-President, Secretary or Treasurer of the Executive Committee. In addition, they have served as chairs for multiple committees, such as Strategic Planning, Finance, Grants/Program, Marketing/Communications. “Robert Boyce, Scott Detar, Milton Martyny, Charles Palladino, and Sharon Weaver are five of the original Board of Directors created on July 1, 2003, at the time of the sale of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center to Community Health Systems. Mr. Kenn Picardi joined the Board in 2005.
They have all played an integral part in forming the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation,” according to Dave Kraybill, Foundation President. “They each brought their own unique personalities, expertise, and passion for health and wellness to the Board. Their dedication and leadership has helped guide the Foundation in fulfilling its mission of motivating people to adopt healthy lifestyles.
In an effort to fill the vacant seats created by the retirement of these six Board members, the Foundation has appointed five new Board members.
B. Douglas Trainer joined the Board in October 2013. Doug is a Vice President and Senior Financial Consultant at National Penn Investment Services. Debora Zelle, M.Ed., B.S.N., RN, CSN, a certified school nurse at Upper Providence Elementary School is also the Department Chair of Health Services for the Spring-Ford School District. Ms. Zelle joined the Foundation Board in March 2014.
In June 2014 the Foundation added both Peter Glennon, a Client Portfolio Manager for SEI Investments, Inc., and Mr. James Corum, a retired advertising, marketing, and public relations professional who has worked with companies such as Thriftway Super Markets, Alston ACW and Lordon-Michelson. The Foundation’s most recent appointment is Mrs. Deborah Lee who will begin her new role in October 2014. Ms. Lee is the Credit Department Manager/Vice President at The Victory Bank in Limerick.
“We are very fortunate to have all five of these local professionals join the Foundation’s Board of Directors. They each bring a unique talent and expertise that will help the Foundation continue to fulfil its vision of encouraging residents to lead healthy lives through healthy lifestyles,” according to Kraybill.
As of July 1, 2014, Art Green has assumed the role of Board Chairman and Matt Cappelletti assumed the role as Vice Chairman. Dr. Keith Harrison assumed the role of Treasurer, Myra Forrest remains in the role of secretary, and Todd Alderfer accepted the position of “member-at-large” of the Executive Committee.
