June 27 is National HIV Testing Day each year, when people ages 13 to 64 are encouraged to get tested for HIV and seek care and treatment if needed. In addition, the day seeks to raise awareness that HIV testing at least once can be a part of routine health care. The CDC recommends people at high risk for HIV get tested each year.
The theme of this year’s National HIV Testing Day is “Doing It My Way,” asking people to share their personal reasons for getting tested for HIV using the hashtag #DoingItMyWay.
There are so many ways to get tested for HIV—at home, at the doctor’s office, with a friend. There are also different HIV tests depending on your lifestyle and situation.
