Foundation Celebrates Tenth Anniversary
Pottstown, PA – November 4, 2013 – In 2013, the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation celebrates its tenth anniversary and remains committed to driving positive changes that lead to better overall health and wellness in the TriCounty area. Over the past ten years, the Foundation has provided more than $22 million to non-profits with a shared vision for building healthy communities. The Foundation continues to look ahead—although the group did thank its grantees in October 2013 by hosting an event that celebrated the last 10 years of grantmaking, and the theme of partnerships, purpose, people, progress and pride in the community.
“Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our grantees, it has been a great ten years,” said Dave Kraybill, Executive Director for the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation. “Through continued partnerships and Foundation resources, we look forward to moving further and faster in the decade ahead.”
Specifically, grants have been provided to:
- Seven area public schools and ten private schools and pre-schools.
- Community gardens and gardening education projects.
- Recreation projects that tie together physical activities and environmentally healthy conditions.
- Create and promote social networks that support healthy behaviors.
- Healthcare access, disease prevention and health convenience services.
- Strengthening of area non-profit organizations.
In order to highlight those who have made the TriCounty area a better and healthier place over the past ten years, the Foundation premiered a video at its event, which features area children―those who will lead our healthy, dynamic community in the future. The Foundation hopes that the video not only serves to remind the community of the work that has been done over the past 10 years, but also inspires what’s to come in the future.
