This year marks the 100th annual observance of Veterans Day, and whether you’re a veteran or just want to show your support for America’s service members—past and present, there are commemorations in the Pottstown area and beyond for you to join.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, Boyertown Rotary Club members will host their 19th annual Veterans Salute at St. John’s Lutheran Church, and on Sunday, Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site will host a free event that will include an archival research presentation, a discussion of the site’s cemeteries, and a dedication of a new wayside.
On Veterans Day—Monday, Nov. 11— Pottsgrove High School will host a breakfast for veterans and Owen J. Roberts High School will host a luncheon.
Down at Valley Forge National Park—the birthplace of the Continental Army—a full day of programming on Veterans Day will include a commemoration service, historical interpretation, and an artillery demonstration scheduled for 3 p.m.
One of the biggest Veterans Day events in the region is the 60th annual Veterans Day Parade in Media. It’s the largest Veterans Day parade in the state and will celebrate the centennial of the American Legion. All American Legion post members in Pennsylvania are invited to march in the parade, and accommodations will be made for those unable to walk.

It’s the 100th anniversary of the parade, and President Trump will address the opening ceremony before laying a wreath at Madison Square Park. Five veterans representing five generations of America’s veterans—from WWII through the present—will serve as grand marshals.
