Before you sit down to enjoy Thanksgiving with your family this Thursday, here are some ways to stay healthy and active before the big dinner!
Turkey trotting: Burn off your Turkey Day calories before you eat them! Start the day off right with a dose of exercise. Locally, there is a Toss Your Turkey 5K and a Turkey Trot! You'll feel refreshed, rejuvenated and won't be so sluggish after dinner.
Eat slowly: You don't have to eat it all at once....leftovers are a beautiful thing! Don't skip breakfast and fill your plate with lots of veggies and small portions. A little bit of everything goes a long way. Don't feel as if you have to fill the entire plate as most of the time our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. It's easy to overeat, but know when your body is telling you to stop.
Keep moving: Whether it's a stroll around the block before (and after!) dinner, tossing the football around in the backyard with your cousins, or dancing in the kitchen as you help prepare the meal, don't stop moving! Fight the food coma feelings and move around instead of heading to the couch.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!
