If you haven’t signed up for the Mosaic Community Land Trust’s (MLCT) 2015 Home Garden Contest, time is running out! The extended deadline to register ends tomorrow, July 3, at 5 p.m.
MCLT is still on the hunt for more residential, neighborhood and junior gardener entries. If you or anyone you know has a brag-worthy garden, spread the word and enter the contest! Better yet, get together with your neighbors and create a beautiful garden together. This will not only enhance the look and feel of your neighborhood, but will give you the opportunity to bond and get to know those that live around you. There’s no better reward than working together as a team towards a common goal to improve the community in which you live!
So, whether you’re entering your own garden at home (residential), a garden planted together with close-proximity neighbors (neighborhood) or your child’s garden masterpiece (junior), get those registration forms in! First, second and third place winners in each category will be presented with monetary prizes (depending on the category). For details, check out the contest flyer and register before Friday at 5 p.m.
Also, here’s some fun things happening in Pottstown for the 4th:
- Colebrookdale Railroad’s Independence Day ride options
- Participate in Pottstown’s annual July 4th parade with the Mercury Mile who will be walking alongside the Pottstown Dragon Boat, which is designed to resemble a Chinese Dragon, with CrossFit Pottstown/Dragon Warriors. Please contact Michilea Patterson at firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. today if you would like to participate.
- CrossFit Pottstown will host its annual Filthy Fifty at 8 a.m. on July 4th. This workout of the day (WOD) is 10 exercises at 50 reps each, 500 total reps! Don’t be intimidated. All movements can be scaled and modified to one’s ability. So bring a friend and test yourselves to see if you can handle one of CrossFit’s toughest WODs!
