Mark your calendars! On Thursday, June 25 at 11:30 a.m. the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, the Schuylkill River Heritage Area (SRHA)and the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation will announce the completion of Pennsylvania’s Outdoor Recreation Plan at Pottstown’s Memorial Park.
The plan is a blueprint to help connect citizens to healthy outdoor recreation that will guide
work and priorities for the next several years, according to the event invitation. Pottstown gets the distinct honor of hosting the announcement which will take place at Center Court of The 24th annual Pottstown Rumble, the world's largest grass doubles, outdoor volleyball tournament.
As a way to kick off the event, several attendees will be riding about one mile from the SRHA to the event site at Memorial Park, using the iconic Bike Pottstown/ Bike Schuylkill yellow bikes. Bikes are still available for Thursday’s ride! If you’d like to reserve one, click here. Also, Olympic Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor will be attendance at the Rumble and will be on-hand for part of the ceremony.
Additionally, light refreshments will be served and the Colebrookdale Railroad will be giving tours of the train after the closing remarks of the announcement ceremony.
