It's Monday morning, the weekend seemed to go by in the blink of an eye and you feel unmotivated. Your goals seem eons away from being met. To top it all off, it's Feb. 1, the start of a brand new month and the expiration date of most New Year's resolutions.
Make this day, month and year different! Stick to your goals and push yourself out of your comfort zone no matter how challenging it may seem. Whether it's a new year's resolution or something you're trying to get improve,
Write it down: Keep your goals somewhere you can see them daily and be reminded of what you are trying to accomplish. Even on days that may be harder to get through, these positive reinforcements will motivate you to keep going no matter what life throws at you that day. Also, having a buddy that helps to keep you in check and vice versa is a great source of daily encouragement that will hold you accountable.
Have a plan: Map out what you want to accomplish and the steps you are going to take to do so. Make S.M.A.R.T. goals-- ones that are specific, measurable, realistic and timely. Setting these types of goals are more likely to be completed because they help to narrow down exactly what you want, when you want it, and how you're going to get there. Navigate this process with a plan to help reach the goal.
Follow through: Don't let anything distract you from your goals. If you vowed to drink more water and cut out all sugary drinks, don't keep buying that soda at the grocery store or ordering it when eating out. Resist temptation and set yourself up for success. Every goal, big or small, is important. You are the only one standing in your way, break down those barriers of self-doubt and allow yourself to shine.
