'Tis the season for the holiday stress to be kicked into high gear! We spend so much time worrying if everything is going to be perfect for our holiday celebrations--- the decorations, the food, the gifts, etc., that we forget the real reason for the season. We forget to slow down and just enjoy the time with family and friends. In taking care of all the details, we also forgot to take care of ourselves.
Don't burn yourself out this year! Instead, practice some self-care.
Have fun: Do something you like to do for once instead of tailoring to everyone else's needs! Curl up in front of the fireplace with that book you've been meaning to start, go get a massage, bake your favorite holiday treat or catch up with friends or family you haven't seen in a while. The holidays are the perfect time to re-connect!
Back to basics: Don't forget the basics...you know sleeping, eating and exercise! The holidays can sometimes derail us from our normal routines, but it doesn't have to be this way. Make time in your schedule to check off the things that help you be your best self while adding in those favorite holiday traditions to the mix. There can be room for it all. If not today, there's always tomorrow!
Go with the flow: Accept that not everything is going to turn out just how you planned and that's okay! Perfection is not attainable, nor excepted. Embrace any presumed "failures," or mishaps because what's most important is the time spent with those you love, celebrating your beliefs. Take it all with a grain of salt and just enjoy the moment!
