A holiday week is always hard to bounce back from--- after all the time-consuming preparations, the day seems to go by in the blink of an eye. Even though you never want holidays spent with family and friends to end, time really does fly when you're having fun and it's back to reality you go!
After all the wonderful comfort foods and desserts you indulged in over the Thanksgiving holiday, your body needs some time to process.
Here's a few ways to recover post-Thanksgiving:
Don't starve yourself: Don't feel like you have to eat next to nothing in the days following Thanksgiving in order to make up for everything you consumed on that day and the days leading up to the holiday. This is counterproductive and can actually lead you to binge eat throughout the day. Start your day off with a balanced breakfast and eat regularly throughout the day to get back to your normal eating cycle.
Water, water, water: What better way to flush out your system then by drinking plenty of water following a week full of indulgences (alcoholic beverages included) leading up to the big meal. Drinking more water will also help you feel fuller so as to not overindulge in the leftovers all at once.
Put your guilt to good use: Don't beat yourself up for indulging! Instead, sweat it out! Head to that spin class you've been dying to try out for weeks, take the stairs at work instead of the elevator, walk outside during your lunch break or in your neighborhood after work. Get your body moving and soon you'll feel so great that the holiday season guilt is a thing of the past!
