It's that time of year when everyone is dashing to the mall and various other stores on their lunch breaks, after work, or in their free time to pick up those perfect gifts for their loved ones. Don't let the stress of the holidays take its toll on you! Keep these healthy tips in mind as you check each person off your list this holiday season.
Pretzels, cinnamon buns, ice cream, oh my!: No matter how hard it may be, try to resist all the treats you may wander past while shopping. Arrive early and leave before lunch and/or dinner so you can eat at home without being tempted to chose between all the readily available indulgences.
Walk it out: On shopping days, you're usually on your feet up and moving pretty much all day, which is great exericse, but take it up another notch! Before you start your shopping and before you start acquiring all those bags, do a couple laps around the mall or shopping center at a rate quicker than your normal stride. This will get your heart rate up and give you a simple, yet quick exercise before the real cardio starts -- shopping!
Pay it forward: Spread joy this holiday season with random acts of kindness to those you know and those you don't! Pay for the person's order behind you in line, purchase a gift for a child in need this holiday season while shopping for your family and friends, etc. Do something that will bring a smile to someone's face and inspire them to do the same for someone else. Most importantly, enjoy and take in all the holiday season has to offer especially time spent with family and friends!
