It's hard to believe that Christmas Eve is a week from today but, ready or not, here it comes! Over the weekend, the stores will be packed full of last-minute holiday shoppers attempting to check off everything (and everyone) on their list. Here are some tips to help you enjoy the holiday season and focus less
Take a break: Whatever it is you're stressing over in the midst of your holiday preparations, walk away from it and go do something else. Take a jog and listen to your favorite playlist, recite a favorite mantra or prayer, meditate or do some of your favorite yoga poses, read a few chapters of the book you're reading and do what helps you relax. It's okay (and necessary) to take brain breaks to help your mind refocus on the tasks at hand.
Let it go: You can't find the gift your niece so desperately wanted, you burned the batch of cookies and your gift-wrapping skills aren't as great as you thought---LET.IT.GO. Brush it off and redirect your focus on to something else. In the grand scheme of things, none of this will matter when surrounded by the love of your family and friends. If at first you don't succeed, try again! If not, don't sweat it. You've got more important things to worry about!
Don't forget about you: The holidays are meant to be a time of joy for everyone, including you! As you cater to your family and friends this holiday season, don't forget about yourself. Self care is not selfish.
Above all, breathe! No matter what curveballs this week may bring, roll with the punches and enjoy the holiday season with those you love!
