Calling all parents who love to spend time at the park with their kids — your child could be The Mercury’s next Fit Kid for Life contest winner just by doing what they love!
Send in a picture of your child doing some sort of fitness-related activity at the park (playing on the monkey bars or a sport, etc.) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to include your child’s first name, age and town and submit it by Wednesday, August 5th by noon. It’s free and so fun!
So, what do they get if they win you ask? Not only is the picture you submitted published in The Mercury, but the winner will also receive a Schuylkill Valley Sports gift card and a FREE t-shirt. Up to three children have the opportunity to win and be featured in the newspaper for their efforts. It’s as easy as visiting your local park, getting moving, snapping a photo and submitting it!
Ending July 31st, is the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation’s (PAHWF) 2nd annual On Your Park, Get Set, Go! contest created to get the community back in to the parks. If you’re local park happens to be one of these 14 contest participants, you could also earn your park some votes and possibly help it win $10,000 in grant funds for improvements while participating in the Fit Kids for Life contest! You have till dusk on the 31st to vote for your park and can do so three different ways daily— snap a selfie at the park, scan the park’s QR code with a QR code reader and vote online, all three ways, per day for 22 votes from a single park goer. Voters also have the option to directly contribute to their park’s cause by donating. The PAHWF will match donations $1 for $1 up to $2,000. If you chose to give $5, your park will earn $10. It’s a win-win opportunity for your park!
