Even though Valentine's Day has come and gone, there's no reason why you shouldn't keep spreading the love! Here are four ways to continue spreading love and kindness all year long.
Offer a helping hand: Whether it's putting change in a stranger's parking meter that's about to expire or shoveling the driveway of an elderly neighbor, do something kind for someone. Not because you have to, but because you want to. Pay for the person behind you in the drive-thru and get creative with your acts of kindness! The possibilities are endless. Give unexpectedly just to brighten someone's day, not because you want something in return.
Compliment a stranger: You have no idea how a simple hello or a compliment can change someone's day for the better. If you see a stranger while out and about, say "Hi-how are you?" with a smile instead of looking the other way. If you like something they're wearing-tell them! Your kindness can really be a bright spot for someone on a day that may not be going so well. Hold the door open, give a smile and tell them to have a great day!
Donate: Your time, your expertise or even a helping hand-choose a worthy cause near and dear to your heart and give back. Volunteering is so important, but with our busy lifestyles it can be hard to fit in. Make time for those less fortunate than you and encourage others you know to do the same. It's amazing how much clearer you'll see when you take the time to stop and focus on the needs of others.
Say thank you: To police officers, first responders, the men and women of our armed forces (both active duty and veterans), firefighters, etc. Take a moment to tell those who so courageously and selflessly put their lives on the line every day to protect you and your family how much you appreciate them and their dedication to the communities they serve. Have a conversation with them and thank them for their service. Their unwavering passion and commitment is oftentimes overlooked and their jobs can be thankless at times, but you can change that. Never underestimate the power of kindness and telling someone they are loved, valued and appreciated.
Finally, no matter what life throws your way, ALWAYS...
