The first snowfall of the year has come and gone and winter has finally arrived after an unseasonably warm December. As the temperture continues to drop, I'll be protecting my immune system from the dreaded common cold. Since I always seem to get sick during this time of year, here are a few simple things I vow to do to prevent getting sick!
Bundle up: Never head outside without a jacket and always protect your chest, nose and mouth if you can, covering it with a scarf. Prevent the cold air from taking your breath away...literally!
Sanitize: Regularly washing your hands and/or using anti-bacterial hand sanitizer when hot water and soap is not an immediate option, is a must. There are so many germs on your hands and they can spread fast. Just think how many times you touch your face in one day. Yuck!
Sleep more: This is always one of my goals because the amount of time you sleep each night really takes on toll on your energy levels the next day. I always feel sluggish and groggy when I don't get enough sleep and it has contributed to my common cold on several occasions. Rest, rest, rest! Also, don't head into the office when you're sick. Take the day off or work from home. Don't spread your germs and risk infecting others.
