February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and the YWCA Tri-County Area has resources to empower young women in the Pottstown area.
Nationwide, youth age 12 to 19 experience the greatest rates of dating violence. Girls who face violence in their relationships are at greater risk for suffering long term consequences, including drug use, eating disorders, and suicide attempts.
YWCA programming includes mentoring and leadership programs for adolescents, and offers an interactive discussion between high school students and expert panelists centered on Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. Registration is open for several programs, and can be completed on the YWCA website.
The YWCA is also presenting the 5th Annual All.Girl! Leadership and Wellness Convention with the mission of educating and empowering over 150 girls in grades 3 to 12. Topics include stress management, self-resiliency, leadership, self-defense, financial literacy, social change, and conflict management.
