Happy Monday, all!
I’ve done a pretty good job this year of staying healthy while in grad school. Unfortunately, all the stress and excitement leading up to my final thesis presentation in March finally caught up to me. I’ve been battling a nasty viral infection for most of last week and all weekend long.
As I make my way back to the doctor’s today, here are some things I did to help get me back to 100 percent.
Stay hydrated: All weekend long, I’ve been drinking tons and tons of water so I don’t dehydrate. Also, I’ve been drinking tea with honey for my sore throat as well as Gatorade to help gain back any electrolytes lost.
Catch up on sleep: Chances are, if you haven’t been sleeping much, like I haven’t, it will take a toll on your health and contribute to whatever sickness your immune system is fighting. Use this “sick time” to catch up on sleep. Don’t wait until you’re as sick as I am to do so, sleep is so important no matter if you’re sick or healthy as can be.
Take it easy: This weekend I’ve been laying low, watching my favorite shows, reading and most of all — focusing on getting better. I made sure to take my medicine, eat well and not overdo it as I often tend to do.
Wishing you all a healthy week! I’m getting there J
