The Holy Cross Regional School in Collegeville is now home to a rock climbing wall that will be incorporated into its physical education curriculum. For two days in August, the rock wall, originally housed at Sacred Heart Parish in Royersford, was dismantled, transported and installed in the Holy Cross gymnasium. The wall was unveiled to students and parents during the first week of the 2015-16 school year. This project was made possible by a grant from the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation.
"I’m very excited to add the climbing wall to the physical education curriculum at Holy Cross Regional Catholic School,” said Physical Education Teacher Stacy Mauer. “Climbing is a lifetime sport that builds physical, cognitive and social/emotional skills. I thank the Pottstown Area Health & Wellness Foundation for making this exciting adventure possible."
Rock climbing engages kids of all ages, sizes, and skills, during all seasons of weather. It offers students an alternative to regular workouts and, at the same time, challenges their problem-solving abilities.
